Bond No. 9 Boca Raton
The House of Bond is launching its first non-New York named fragrance this week at Saks in Boca Raton, Florida, my home town. Without a clue as to the notes or gender of the launch, perfumer Laurice Rahme offered the questionable advice "Don't go with the fragrance of the week or the flower of the week. Start with a bottle that attracts you the most. Hopefully the outside is a reflection of what is inside." Should we apply that logic to wine as well?

That's pretty funny. My mother lives in Boca Raton, actually. I need to send her to Saks on a mission, look like.

That is definitely questionable advice!! I have looked at some fragrances in gorgeous bottles and the juice inside was not something I'd ever want to wear. On the other hand, I own several lovely scents that are in rather boring or even downright ugly bottles. I'll take the better juice over the bottle, thank you!
BTW, if you don't like the look of the bottle, you have 2 options: 1) Decant into an atomizer/bottle to your liking... or 2) decorate the boring/plain/ugly bottle. I do #2 by gluing pretty stickers, rhinestones and other decorations (which can be found in places that sell jewelry-making and scrap-booking materials) onto the bottles.

Re: Bond No. 9 Boca Raton
I sent my mother to try this, as I'm on a different continent at the moment. She is keeping it as a surprise! But she said, 'It smelled really good." She is not a perfumista, but said she was impressed, with the bottle, also. Did anyone out there try it? What are the notes?

Re: Bond No. 9 Boca Raton
Any updates on this? Also, will there be any other places to purchase this? Thanks!

Re: Bond No. 9 Boca Raton
It's a gardenia/grapefruit scent, apparently very pleasant, and it's all gone, so far as I know. There were only a couple hundred bottles made, and I think they've all sold. Ebay would be the only place now.

Ah well...I missed it. I never did ask my mother to go check it out. I'll be down there over Christmas. It would have been nice to take a sniff of it when I got there. But I'll survive the loss somehow.

Re: Bond No. 9 Boca Raton
Found this:
Bond No. 9 recently launched Boca Raton, which is a scent described as “a seductively feminine spicy-fruity floral composed of lily of the valley, black currant, gardenia, and freesia.”** Top notes are Lily of the Valley and Black Currant; heart is Gardenia, Freesia, and Hedione; and the base notes are Amber, Cedarwood, Cardamom, and Musk....

And this:

....Hence Bond No. 9 Saks Boca—a seductively feminine spicy-fruity floral composed of lily of the valley, black currant, gardenia, and freesia. Hedione lends this bouquet a shimmering radiance, while lingering notes of amber, cedarwood, cardamom, and musk allow the scent to infuse the tropical air like a sultry song.
Bond No. 9 Saks Boca is available in two different versions of the Bond No. 9 slender superstar flacon, each of them featuring our circular centerpiece logo as a key design element. On one bottle, the surface is studded with nearly 1,200 Swarovski crystal stones, accented with bright blue ($500). The other bottle, in pure white, features 520 bright blue and crystal stones ($325.00). Arriving on counter November 8, 2008 and will be sold exclusively at Saks Fifth Avenue in Boca Raton.

This may or may not partially explain why I'm unimpressed with what is inside those impressive colorful starfish bottles ;P

Freesia and Lily of the Valley generally smell 'young' to me. Direct inverse of the scents' locale representation...
