Very good stuff, glad to see my Vetiver one the big award this year, and I'm suprised to see someone other than Chanel or Creed win the top marks for house too! Very good stuff Grant!

Re: 7th Annual Basenotes Awards. Results?
I am really thrilled to see Guerlain take Best House this year. They've long been my favorite.
And I'm happy for Robin at Now Smell This. She deserves it, she puts in a lot of hours on that blog.
My only disappointment was that Antidote didn't even make it into 3rd place. I don't think Euphoria was anything to write home about, I think Antidote was far more interesting. But I'm glad to see Terre d'Hermes win as well, I knew it would.

Yes, I was surprised to see Euphoria. I didn't think it was that good, but having never smelled Antidote, I couldn't say it would have made a suitable substitute.
I like most of the others but Egoiste was such a surprise for me.

Funyn how Guerlain "finally" got the nod from the voters... just when they were starting to sell out

Maybe this nod can encourage Guerlain to come out with a good new fragrance for men - Heritage was over 15 years ago !

Re: 7th Annual Basenotes Awards. Results?
Suprised Vetiver took so many awards and Envy didn't. IMHO Envy is superior to Vetiver in every way. And Guerlain the #1 house? Did they even release a men's scent this year that wasn't a variation on a previous scent? Also, Euphoria #2 best new men's scent? 2006 was definitely a weak year for men's scents!

Yea was not impressed by Euphoria for men (the ladies version plesantly surprised me tho). Burberyr London wouldve made a more apt 2nd place...

Re: 7th Annual Basenotes Awards. Results?
Agree with the surprise of Euphoria that high up. I did feel Antidote might be #2. But that is just my take on it and obivously there are a lot who feel otherwise. So, I guess I will have to revist Euphoria.
I really like Egoiste, but did not expect it to be #1. Congrats to Chanel here.

Happy to see that Cumming is getting the recognition it deserves. It really is an exceptional and unique fragrance.

Doesn't matter. Guerlain shares a common DNA/basenote scent that unifies them as a brand. Whether they released a new scent last year or 20 years ago, no perfume house has given the world so many classic, save Creed, which didn't win, so screw 'em.
Guerlain is the MOST FRENCH, most classic, most revered and most innovative perfume house in the world, and I celebrate their win.

And I couldn't agree more. I can't think of a house I hold in higher esteem.

I, too, was rather surprised to see Euphoria take 2nd place. It's not a bad scent (it's quite good, actually), although you'd think it was, based on the negative reviews it's gotten. But after seeing all the GOOD reviews and comments given to Guess Man (which I voted for as Best New Scent), I was shocked to see that it didn't even make the top 5!
So, guys...how did YOU vote? Here's how I cast MY ballot (in the Men's category, anyway):
Best Frag: Bois du Portugal
Best New Frag: Guess Man
Best for Day Wear: Millesime Imperial
Best for Evening Wear: Zino Davidoff
Best Packaging: Dior Homme
Best Niche Frag: Bois Du Portugal
Best Designer Frag: B*Men
Best Mass-Market Frag: Old Spice
Best Celebrity Frag: Unforgivable
Best Frag House: Creed

Re: 7th Annual Basenotes Awards. Results?
I still can't pin down a Guerlain scent that I could wear. Smells to me too dated or just not good enough for my liking. Now YSL's scents (though not L'Homme) on the other hand hits all the right notes and have a nice variety for a fragrance house.
