The Perfume Industry's: Movers and Shakers

During the summer of 2006, we asked a select group of individuals from all areas of the perfume industry who they thought were the most important people working in the industry today. Keep checking this page, as over the next few weeks, we will be revealing the results of the survey and find out who are the "Movers and Shakers" of the perfume industry.

Who do you think will be the "Movers and Shakers"....?

I'd pick Olivier Cresp, for sure. He created several of the scents that shocked the world. One example is the revolutionary, and highly successful, Angel for Thierry Mugler that he co-created with Yves de Chiris... one of perfumery's masterpieces. More recently, he also created D&G Light Blue, another mega-success.

I could go on and on with more... but I'll stop at here for now.

I'll be doing #25 on Friday - I did intend to do it today but, I'm going to be busy for two days.

#25 may be a surprise as (s)he isn't particularly well known but the name cropped up a few times and although their impact on the industry isnt huge, they are doing a few things different to everyone else...

- Montale (or the Saudi royal family) for making a whole line of authentic oriental fragrances available to the western world.

- Lous Vouitton M H for turning fragrance temples into ruins!

- Procter & Gamble, ditto LVMH

- The 2006 manipulators of scent chemistry mergers

Thanks to the voters for placing Mandy Aftel in the Top 25 Movers and Shakers group. She's done more for natural perfumery than any other person, and we in the Guild she founded always knew she was "tops". ;-)
