Re: A n y o n e?

Duke:

Tell us a little about yourself: your age and profession at least. It seems to me that initial choices in fragrances have something to do with your age and state in life. I would be hard...

Re: Aramis Classic EDT Concentrate

As the later posts have indicated, and you confirmed by a description of the box, I was wrong to think that perhaps we were referring to Special Reserve. Please ignore my comments, they were in...

Re: Alford & Hoff - The Fragrance

Sampled at Bergdorf's: it's a very subtle smelling classy fragrance. Not earth shattering, but nice, subtle and sophisticated, with a Mark Birley sensibility.

Re: Old Fashioned Soap Scent

Paul Stuart's Sandalwood and Arden Sandalwood for Men are very lovely soapy scents. Strong on initial application, but soapy all the way.

Re: Old Fashioned Soap Scent

Trumper's Spanish Leather reminds you of Yardley's lavender brilliantine!? Boy, that's something; I would be hard pressed to think of two more dissimilar fragrances than that leather/soap and the...

Re: Aramis Classic EDT Concentrate

Now, is the box you saw different from the standard Aramis box, in that it is (if I can recall) principally in a solid color? If it is, then this is what we here previously called "Special Reserve"...

I wear it lightly applied in winter. It is great on chilly nights.

Re: Recommendations for a GOOD hip flask?

I believe Ghurka has a lovely one for about $100. A bit pricey, but nice leather.

Re: Charvet Neckties

Love the colors and I agree with AnthonyDG, they are a tad delicate. Once a year (mid-Jan) Bergdorf's Mens Store in NYC has a sale that includes some Charvets. Not necessarily the iconic colorful...

Re: Bel Ami discontinued?

Well, as someone who wore Bel Ami at the time it first came out, and for several years thereafter, I have to say I personally I like the (modest) reformulation. This might be due to the fact that...

Re: What is your preferred frag bottle size? Why?

100ml for things I love because there's always the chance of discontinuation.

New stuff 1/32 of an oz, because that's what Luckyscents offers.

Re: men wearing make up

Can't do it, and don't use Grecian formula for gray hair either. Just is not me. And frankly, I have problems with guys who dye their hair to get out the gray. One guy I know did it for awhile and...

Re: Bel Ami: How does it compare to classic leather fragrances?

Bel Ami is a very complex power scent with a touch of leather, but not a lot.

Re: D'Orsay Revamp?

Hello, after a significant hiatus. Just a quick post to say that I am still a big, big fan of the Chevalier d'Orsay, and am into my second bottle. A great fragrance, and I agree with all the other...

Re: Looking for daily hygeine/grooming tips.

Floss, please start flossing. If you have to cut back on anything, get something like John Allan's all in one shampoo and conditioner, and save a step. If you over 25 use a moisturizer, but skip...

Re: Aramis Classic Reserve - my .02 scents...

I love this fragrance and promoted it to the best of my meager abilities on these boards when it was actually available in New York. Now I think it is well and truly gone. Saks did a terrible job...

G-11 by Il Profumo is an all-day scent as is Hugh Parsons Traditional Blue. Both are EdePs.

Re: New Purchase Coming Up...Which Profumum Would You Buy?

I own Antico Caruso, and would not necessarily recommend it. I think Victrix is great if you like green, grassy fragrances. Otherwise, save you dough, you're gonna need it in this economy.

Re: An interesting Cologne find

The notes don't sound too bad at all, but the joke opportunities are irresistible. I wear Smith & Wesson on the weekdays, and Hummer on the weekends. I wear Smith & Wesson when I am on duty, and...
