Re: 212 - Surprising discovery for me..

It's a wonderful fragrance, and nice that you picked out the incense, it's subtly there in the background and for me, is probably the foundation of the wonderful dry down. Enjoy!

Re: Ooops! Happy Ramadan!

Yes, hope the holy month goes well for all Muslim BN'ers. For me, I associate Eid with two things; a taste, and a smell. A friend of mine brings back unwanted sweets from family Eid celebrations (I...

Re: Is Issey Miyake for men a classic?

Whatever it is defined as at present, it will become a classic in due course. It was the first mainstream men's scent to use calone, as far as I know, and when I wore it in 94 people would ask me...

Re: What's Your Favorite Pick-Me-Up Fragrance?

Monsieur Balmain for a citrus burst. And, dare I say it, that old Basnotes favourite, L'eau D'Issey. I'll get booted now!

Re: Spock's Perfume

It's going to be something with the next big thing in synthetics, that we won't know about for a century. Think someone wearing calone based fragrances in a Dickens novel or something!

Re: Name One Showcase-Worthy Bottle

Can't post any photos from the site, but pretty much anything by Arabian Oud, including the boxes they come in. Really something else!

Re: Terre D'Hermes Eau de Parfum?

I think it's really quite sufficient as an EDT, really!!

Re: Discovering the joy of Incense

gucci pour homme has a nice olibanum drydown, a bit gingery-peppery in the opening, and other stuff going on, but if you don't overapply and body chemistry good you'll get a good 8 hours of strong...

Re: The Most Sensual Fragrance Poll!

Any decent oud/agarwood oil is just pure sex and sensuality to me. From dirty, animalistic through to humid jungle, this one is my sex scent!

If I can get a spray of 212 on my partner, it is also...

Re: Frag for working out?

I workout after work and I love the reactivation of that morning's fragrance once the sweat starts to flow. To be honest, wear as much as you want. It beats the jockstrap smell!

I never apply...

Re: Le Labo Oud 27

Tried on Friday at Liberty. Interesting opening, but i get the 'medicinal' note rather than any major oud. About 20 minutes in, it smelt very much like Arabian Oud's Aryam, but with oud/musk/dirty...

Re: An very capricious way of classifying scents...

I think not! 'Ooh, he smells like musty hankies on a bonfire' or something. But if there's one thing worse than being talked about, it's not being talked about!!

Re: An very capricious way of classifying scents...

well, I don't spend too much time on the gay scene really (cr@p music, too many g-star jeans and A&F t shirts) but here's a few:

Le Male - probably due to homoerotic bottle more than anything else...

Re: An very capricious way of classifying scents...

Gucci PH 2003 as a cedar?!!! it's woody, but not cedar - the stuff screams pure unabashed frankincense on the dry down!

interesting though. and I'm a gayer, and at least in London, none of those...

Re: Taking a look at Gucci what's next

I'd like them to not discontinue the 2003 Pour Homme, if that is what they are planning. I'd liek them to re-release Rush. That is all.

Re: Le Labo Oud 27

I'm hoping Liberty in London will let me have a little swipe. I haven't tried any of the Montales, but any other with oud (M7, Dirty English etc) have disappointed me as the oud kind of fits in,...

Re: Duty free - Some ideas?

If it's the 2003 Gucci Pour Homme, forget about it, it's disappearing! Only John Lewis seems to have it these days! And the Duty Free at Belfast International!

Re: Duty free - Some ideas?

Hello, if you go to www.worlddutyfree.com you can see what they have at Stansted, it's not too bad. Generally less well-known ones (e.g. Herrera Chic) are hidden on the bottom shelf, so look well!...

Re: S o t D: Friday, 3rd of April, 2009

I hear you! I live life in a mostly logical, clear-headed way, but I do associate my scents with good or bad luck. I suppose we're all human ;)

Re: Male fragrances 10 years from now

Oud onslaught? Don't think so! Could well be that as naturally occuring compounds (oud, sandalwood, ambergris etc) become even more scarce (I actually do feel guilty for buying oud but love it) then...

Re: Gucci Pour Homme

Based on John Lewis price, as well as passing through belfast airport, the rpice does indeed seem to have gone up! I really hope they don't discontinue GPH, as I just love the stuff :(

Re: Agarwood (oud) oil!

Ok, had a couple of full day's wear and an evening - it's beautiful. The initial blast (medicinal, woody, clean) also has a smell that reminds me of autumn in Ireland - either horsechestnut or...

Re: Agarwood (oud) oil!

Just received my 1ml DSuper Kalimantan for ham_firl. Thank you Igor, just what I was looking for. Initial impressions, I'm delighted. It's that smell I got the first time. I'll repost in a few days...
