Re: Light Soapy Perfume for Women?

I would suggest EL Pleasures.

Re: Which fragrance has been in your 'drobe for the longest time?

Jasper--snap on the Dune! Was given a bottle of it for my 18th birthday in 1995, and have usually had a bottle of it in my collection since (with a few breaks). Just rebought it the other day. It's...

Re: If you had to pick only 4 perfumes to wear from now on, forever...

Well, right now my answer looks something like this...

Shalimar
Dune
Tresor
Envy

Re: Build a wardrobe el cheapo/drugstore style

Apologies for double-post. Not sure how I managed to do that.

Re: Build a wardrobe el cheapo/drugstore style

It of course depends on what's available in your drugstores. I live in Germany, and very often our drugstore chains carry designer fragrances at reduced prices (usually scents that have been around...

Re: what did you wear in the 90's?

My own thread inspired me to revisit (and repurchase) Dune. Brings back so many memories for me! I am also amazed at how long lasting this is for an edt, compared to so many fragrances that have been...

Re: Do you have a Lancome fragrance fave?

My favourites are Tresor edp (a staple in my wardrobe) and Magie Noire, which my mom used to wear a lot and which I feel I may need to revisit.

Re: Perfume virgin looking for my own perfume

I second Dune (Dior). It manages to be classic but eccentric at the same time. It evokes a feeling rather than leading one to identify individual notes as it progresses.

what did you wear in the 90's?

For me it was all about CK One (this came out when I was a teenager and everyone simply HAD to have this), Dune (still like it but don't currently wear it), Escape (can take it or leave it now),...

Re: What smells "gothic" to you??

Aromatics Elixir and The Body Shop's Japanese Musk. It's the herbal, autumny, earthy smell that causes this association, I think. Although intensely floral scents also qualify--Boudoir for example.

Re: Wearing Scents "Out of Season"

I have my fragrances loosely categorized as summer vs winter scents but often break my own "rule". I find that a lot of stronger scents actually bloom in a much more appealing and delicious way in...

Re: What fragrance smells "magical" to you

I second Shalimar and would add Alien to the list--there is a strange, luminous quality to the development of that fragrance on the skin, distinctive in a darkly beautiful way.

Re: Men and nail polish

Nail polish on men--interesting. My first boyfriend went through a phase of wearing black or silver-metallic nail polish in high school. It went quite well with his very confident attitude and love...

Those of you who wear Pleasures...

...do you find its lasting power as good as the other EL fragrances? I want an EL fragrance for everyday wear, and am currently trying to decide between Knowing and Pleasures. I love the intensity of...

Re: What was your first fragrance?

One of the first I wore was Anais Anais. I am thinking of revisiting it now, actually, even though I am 30 years old...I kind of feel myself longing for it again. I was also given a bottle of Tresor...

Re: Just registered from Germany

Welcome to the forum! I'm not German but I live in Germany (and speak German). I agree with you on Douglas--the selection there is pretty average. I can recommend a trip to the KaDeWe in Berlin and...

Re: How women feel…...about men wearing some (marketed to) female scents?

I would never judge a man wearing a woman's fragrance negatively in any way whatsoever. Fragrance choice is a highly personal thing, and the only boundaries that should influence your decision are...

Has there been any official news yet on when Sensuous will be launched in Europe? I can't wait to try it, but I live in Germany.

Re: Clean "soaply" female fragrances

You might want to try out (or re-try) Cacharel's Anais Anais. It smells dry-floral-soapy to me, but very pleasant. It also won't break the bank.

Re: Perfume aficionados and cosmetics philosophy

I always wear makeup during the week for work and always wear makeup when going out for the evening. I just think it makes a woman look more polished and well groomed. I know which colours suit me...
