Re: Recommendations for 'man-florals'?

Not easy to get, but Knize Two is one of the best florals I've sampled.

Re: The Perfumed Count any experiences?

For the 1ml samples, they're using the same basic vial that BPAL uses for their imps, and that I'd gotten custom-blended oils over 20 years ago from a brick-and-mortar shop. I've had no mass...

Re: Would vetiver work as a parfum?

The essential oil can be lovely and quite long-lasting without dilution. However, the two oils I have are both too thick to use a sprayer, and even a roll-on might gum up if left to sit unused too...

SOTD: Quorum ...

wellll, sort of. I used vetiver essential oil (the woody/grassy sort) on some very irritated skin this morning, so I doubt anyone else notices the tobacco/leather powerhouse...

Re: What's a good DRY or DARK fragrance?

Some of the "darker" scents I can think of are fougeres (Knize Forest), or have significant florals - usually rose or carnation (Domenico Caraceni 1913).

Caron: l'Anarchiste, Yatagan
Ava Luxe:...

Re: Should a Man Have an Arsenal?

If he's happy with it, and it's not a pestilence to his present company, I'd congratulate him on it (take notes in case it's really that awesome) and move on.

Re: How would you describe your experiences with "cheapo" frags?

There are always some grey areas. At US$1-5 for a bottle, is it a "blind buy" or just a "really big sample"?

Re: Seeking Scent Closest To Musky Male Armpits

I've only tried it as a sample, but Yatagan seems to have a healthy "yes, I have spent all day outdoors" feel to it.

Re: My Fragrances - Help!

You know your workplace and friends best, but I'd think that lighter, dryer scents are easier to wear for daytime situations (work, school, etc.) and heavier, sweeter scents for the evenings. Even...

Re: I have a Itchy Trigger Finger

C&S 88: Too expensive for a blind buy. Otherwise, it's as good its reputation, not "dark" at all. For more fun, sample No. 88 on one arm and Diptyque's L'Ombre dans L'Eau on the other, to see how...

Re: Which 70s/80s inexpensive "power frag" do you wear most often?

It's one of the few on the list that I own, aside from Quorum.

I'm a little surprised Grey Flannel wasn't on there, but it may be more "powerhouse" than "power" scent.

Re: Perfect Everyday Frag

For seriously "sharp" and "crisp" - Monotheme Scottish Lavender. However, it's not as long-lasting as you're looking for :(

For a bright clear day, I'd go with MPG's Centaure or Garrigue, or...

Re: Which sample set should I order?

I'd go with the second one, because it is intentionally covering a broad range of different categories - many of which you may not have been exposed to in the past. If it helps, I've tried half of...

Re: S.O.T.D ...FRIDAY the 13th of November,09

SOTD: Jules

The somewhat animalic leather base is nice enough, and reminds me a bit of Dzing!. And, the peppery aromatic herbal notes go well with it... But somehow I still feel something's...

Re: Good first vetiver fragrance?

If you have a chance, try out some of the different vetiver essential oils. Like the fragrances, they can range from somewhat "grassy" to deeply "rooty." Once you realize which -if any- versions...
