Re: SotD Friday 13 November

Lady Caron for me today.

It's very '80s-smelling', ie somewhat dated, but is sort of charming for that. I think I like it! Great sillage, certainly.

PS Just to clarify: it came out in 2000, but...

Am wearing a green and blue stripy jumper and somehow Un Jardin sur le Nil just seems to hit the spot.

((((((Oudie and DH))))) -- I send you my hugs and condolences.

Hope everyone fares well this week.

I'm smelling a little cardboard-y in Bal a Versailles EdC.

Re: SotD Thursday 5 November

'Chergui' is a variant of the Arabic 'sharqi' ('Eastern', as in the wind). The stress is on the first syllable.

Re: um Who are you!?

Rude, rude, rude.

Chanel SAs in department stores here in Britain are often woefully underinformed about their company's products. It's a shame. Mercifully, those in the boutiques are better...

Re: SotD Thursday 5 November

My old stalwart, Cabochard.

A fantastically bright, but chilly, autumn day. Cabochard smelled strangely spicy when I sprayed it on this morning. Very nice indeed!

Re: Gardenia!!!

I seem to recall that Chanel Gardenia smelled a little like Poison ....

And yes, buyer beware, mucho evidence that the Jungle Gardenia sold by the VCS is not in keeping with the Tuvache original.

Re: Cabochard: Longevity and sillage

I'd second kumquat's suggestion of Ivoire. It's lovely and 'golden'.

Great posts today ... :)

Wordie, love the thought of your kitten coming along for a stroll. I think cats are great characters and yes -- some of them will play 'fetch' and bring the thrown item...

Re: Cabochard: Longevity and sillage

I think the fact that Cabochard is not a mega sillage monster is probably a good thing, Primrose, as it is neither a smooth nor sweet scent. Too much sillage may come across as coarse. IMO, sillage...

Re: Most worn in October

The scent I wore most this month was Penhaligon's Amaranthine, owing to a spell of sustained testing followed by lots of wears purely for the love of it.

Re: SotD Saturday 31 October

BUM!

I had planned to wear Chergui today, for SSD, but I picked up my Ebay parcel of 1000 EdT from the post office yesterday (a steal at just £4.40!), and in my exuberance covered myself from head...

Re: Gardenia!!!

Penhaligon's do a Gardenia. I couldn't say how 'true' it is or isn't, however, as here in England we are not blessed with such tropical beauties, and I have never actually smelled one!

Re: Cabochard: Longevity and sillage

I have a contemporary (ie rather rough) Cabochard and I do believe it smells great! Sillage is not excessive and longevity is very good, especially if you spritz your clothes. I am often surprised by...

Re: Which reformulation of 1000 EdT

My little bottle looks just like the one in the picture. I bought it off Ebay, so it didn't come in a box. It is lovely, but I note that its topnotes vanish quite quickly. Base stays on for a good...
