Re: Chamade, Chamade, Chamade.....

Asha- I totally agree with you about the similarity to No 19, which I'd never smelled until I got my hands on some No 19 parfum. The openings are nearly identical and then they diverge...

Re: Chamade, Chamade, Chamade.....

I'm going to agree with RHM here on a few points, mostly about development and then the similarity/difference betweeen the edc /edt and parfum. Chamade is definitely a fragrance that changes a lot...

Re: Chanel N°5 Eau Première

Eau Premier smells a lot like the normal Chanel No 5 body cream, which is very rich and has quite a lot of fragrance in it. It dries down very soft, and layers great with eau Premier anyway. And...

Re: Velvet Rose - rose-splosion!

Velvet Rose was my first SSS fragrance as I am a huge rose lover and like roses really bold and beautiful. Velvet Rose smells like an old, antique rose bush that has a clear, lush, dewy, gorgeous...

Re: Favorite small-business perfumers?

My favorite small fragrance shop is Sonoma Scent Studio. Laurie Erickson's fragrances are just gorgeous and well crafted and well priced. My favorites are especially Rose Musc (to die for...

Re: Fragrance of Space?

I would suggest Bulgari Black, but not because of the rubbery part (which I don't get actually). It think Black has a kind of static nature like it is stuck in one place, and yet, soft and...

Re: Chanel Coco & civet?

Hi! Everyone has such interesting comments on Coco. I've worn Coco for almost 20 years now and it is one of my HGs... that being said. I've never detected any significant civet or skank in the...

Re: Is "1st Perfume" online vendor reputable?

Just a little follow up: the eau de Joy edp came OK, and smells perfect. Phew. I suppose I dodged a bullet, and will be cautious from now on. I suppose it does pay off sometimes to take a risk,...

Re: Is "1st Perfume" online vendor reputable?

Thank you for the tip, scentemental. I don't visit the basenotes community forum that often, so I suppose I didn't think to search for a similar question from an earlier time. I will go back and...

Re: Is "1st Perfume" online vendor reputable?

Thanks! I'll look that one up. I always like to do research on a fragrance that I am unfamiliar with. Sounds interesting!

Re: "Old Lady" Perfume (not what you might think.)

Hi Wordbird: Here are my suggestions of things that may appeal to a young person, but still have a bit of complexity to get the nose trained right!

Mauboussin (2000). It has a nice light fruit...

Re: Is "1st Perfume" online vendor reputable?

Shamu1- thanks for your comments. I confess that their selection of different Joy products and low prices did lead me to think it was older stock, which I kind of wanted as I was hoping to smell a...

Kumquat - thanks for your comments. I do know about SOTD that's posted. I just thought it would be fun specific to those responding to my Q. No problems. ;-)

Is "1st Perfume" online vendor reputable?

Hi Everyone:

I just ordered a bottle of Joy edp from 1st Perfume which hasn't arrived yet, and then a fragrance friend told me they are not a good vendor and often have knockoffs or fakes. I've...

Re: Jardin de Bagatelle.

I think, the right man in the right situation could wear this, though for me it is a very confident, womanly floral. It smacks of a great, perfect, sunny day. The dry down is very lovely though and...

Re: Chamade vs Nahema

I can't even pick between the two! They are both so amazing - I have the Chamade in edt and parfum, and the Nahema in edp, and parfum is on my wish list. It is like picking between John and Paul!...

Re: What's your "white tee-shirt" scent?

I see a lot of love for Chanel No 19, which is one of my picks too. Also Lancome Magie and Climat, as well as Ralph Lauren Safari. Sometimes I like to wear Annick Goutal's Ce Soir ou Jamais in the...

Hey ubu - I'm right there with you on Bal a Versailles - it elicited a very passionate comment one time...and thereafter I've always felt it was the sexiest frag I own. Otherwise, my list is: ...

Re: Is Fascination Perfumery in UK legit?

Wordbird - thanks for the response - I too noticed their bricks and mortar image on their website and that helped give me some more confidence.

Hi Kess - it's nice to be here. I'm still a little clumsy with the format....

I love your little Chamade icon!! Chamade is my absolute #1 HG. I splurged on a FB of the parfum at New Years and...
