Re: Old Fashioned Soap Scent

Gendarme. It's soapier than Paco Rabanne. More of a "white" soap scent, as opposed to PR's green, herbal soap.

Re: Acceptable Ladies Fragrances for Men?

My mother wears Mitsouko edp. It smells like an intense, well made version of Old Spice. It then goes powdery with a bit of mossy softness.

Could work on a man in a suit and tie situation.

I have it. It has a metallic tinge to it. It is an acquired taste.

Re: Aldehydes for Men?

Metal by Paco Rabanne. It's meant for women, but seems to work for guys also. I have it and wear it quite often in the summer. It's a very green aldehydic with a bit of "meat" and greasiness to it....

Re: Knize Ten: An awful review

I bought Knize Ten blind and have never regretted it. It is very intense out of the bottle, almost like gasoline, but the drydown is very nice. I think it's all bout leather and tobacco. It's one of...

Re: Madini oils

I have a few Madini oils. They definitely hold their own in the longevity department, although the scent gets closer to the skin as time goes. I've never had any experience with attar or anything...

Re: What is a "cigar-box" fragrance?

Fine, expensive cigar boxes and humidors are made of Cedrela odorata, a tree in the Mahogany family. It also used in constructing wardrobe cabinets and bureaus. Because of the insect repellent...

Re: Rain

Here's another one. Cumming smells like a rainy day in a deciduous forest.
I work with logs and trees everyday. Trust me, this scent smells like wet wood and bark, but in nice way.

Re: Pronunciation of Hermes?

Listen to a Hermes commercial on Youtube and see how they pronounce it.
I saw the Eau des Merveilles add on there and it seemed to pronounced "air-mess".

My cousin teaches French. I should asked...

Re: Rain

Metal edt (Paco Rabanne) reminds me of heavy rain. It's a very wet, green scent with a bit of "flesh" to it. It's not aquatic, it's just smells "rainy" or rather a flower garden that's been beaten...

Re: Welcome to the Kouros club - No More Taking the Piss

I hated it when I smelled it for first time: right out of the bottle. The sale's lady in Dillard's handed me the aftershave tester, so I dabbed some on my arm and put it up to my nose. I looked at...

Re: Idole de Lubin.

I find Idole very long lasting and DARK. It smells like Captain Morgan TATTOO extra-dark rum when first applied. In fact, maybe a little bit of Jagermeister, too. Then it settles nicely into...

Re: Paradigm & Jet Homme

I remember liking Paradigm when it came out. To me, it is very woody, spicy and warm. It's kinda like Spark (Liz Claiborne.) It's way better than it's predecessor, Perceive, which smelled too much...

Re: Dorissima Narziß

I wear this fragrance on special occasions or during cool weather. It was the single most expensive fragrance purchase I've ever made, but due to it's intensity, I'll have the bottle for years. It...

Bandit:
Faded carnations and ashtrays full of cigarette butts in a cold, drafty bedroom of an aging 1940's screen siren.

Salvador Dali:
That drafty, cold bedroom gutted by fire.
