Re: I think I finally understand Polo Double Black, but...

It's OK, but I like Black better. Black seems more straightforward to me, and Double Black always makes me smell like a taco (what causes that?).

Re: Need some suggestions...

Rochas Lui has a nice patchouli and vanilla drydown. The original John Varvatos also has a vanilla element to it and is an easy-going, pleasant scent. Both smell great and would be a bit different...

Re: Perfect Everyday Frag

If you want sharp, I would suggest Encre Noire. It has a certain sharpness to it, but I think it's very agreeable for everyday wear.

For clean, how about one of the Gendarmes? Or perhaps Paco...

Re: Who's your Reviewer?

There is one reviewer who particularly seems to like the same kinds of things I like, so I often look to that person's reviews, with generally reliable results. As far as I can tell, that reviewer...

Re: Negative Reviews-Should I write more?

I think you should write what you want to write. I like your writing. Just do what you feel.

Re: What is your best inexpensive frag purchase

I bought a 1.7-oz bottle of Everlast Original 1910 for $2.95. I would say that has been my best bargain because it smells great, and you can't beat that price.

I also agree with Mustang, mentioned...

Re: Consistency - Is there a frag you like each and every time you wear it?

I like everything I have, but I am a rotator, and I enjoy each one every time I put it on. Perhaps if I wore just one repeatedly, I might not like it consistently, but I've never tried that.

Re: Bois 1920 Real Patchouli

[QUOTE=AromiErotici;1668252]Buzz......I didn't try the Montale. My reason being that the Montale line and I don't seem to get along too well. Aoudh is the reason behind my thinking and I...

Re: Bois 1920 Real Patchouli

I see Montale Patchouli Leaves mentioned above. I sampled that one and liked it very much. Have you tried it? I haven't tried the others you mentioned yet but thought that the Montale would be a very...

Re: light, resinous frags suggestions?

You might like Etro's Messe de Minuit as well. I find it a light and pleasant incense fragrance.

Re: What was the first fragrance you bought after joing basenotes?

I think it was Escada Pour Homme. I saw it at a discount store after reading about it here, and I bought it. I was (and still am) pleased.

Re: Tauer L'air du Desert Marocain - Blind Buy?

Glad you got the samples from Tauer. I did too. I got my sample of L'Air about a year ago, and I still have quite a bit left. A little goes a long way with this one. I didn't like it much at first...

Re: Favorite Everyday Fragrance

The one I want to reach for every day is Boss Bottled, but I stop myself because I like to wear a different fragrance each day. That makes it more fun to come back to, although I do think it would...

Re: If I like Tumulte, what else . . . ?

Thank you for your suggestions; I will definitely be trying many of them.

To zliang, I do not find Tumulte to be much stronger than Equus, and I have the EDP version of Equus; they both seem about...

If I like Tumulte, what else . . . ?

With autumn in full swing, I am hauling out the cedar chest. Today I wore Tumulte and enjoyed it, although I wish it were a bit stonger. That said, what else might I want to try in the same vein? I...

Re: Ten new members who have an interest in sampling

I would never ask for the samples myself, and am not, but I have to say that this is a kind and generous offer. Very nice.

Re: If you had $250 to spend on fragrance at Bergdorf's NYC...

It's hard to say because the salespeople jump on you so fast that you can't ever actually see or test anything. When you want to look at something, they are literally one step behind you breathing...

Re: Gendarme?

I have Gendarme 20 and like it OK. It has strong lavender at the beginning and a musk base that I find very nice. It lasts pretty well on me. It's not a favorite, but I do like to wear it...

Re: Was L'Anarchiste a big disappointment ?

It was so-so to me. The Clark's Teaberry gum mixed with ham glaze opening was somewhat interesting, but the drydown reminded me of Egoiste, which I don't particulary care for.

Re: help me here

For your purpose, I would choose Third Man.

I love Encre Noire, but it doesn't wear like a "fragrance" in that it doesn't smell like something that most people would identify as a cologne, if that...
