I've been wondering ever since your blog..how was your trip? Did you find any new scents while you were away?

    Hi:
I'm glad you're enjoying it. It reminds me of cherry pipe tobacco a bit. It's one of the best, recent Caron creations. I'm surprised it isn't more popular.
I love CDOV, too. I have a travel size bottle that's getting very low, so it's good to have a real bottle back in my collection.
I'm glad the trade worked out for the both of us.
    Best,
    Kevin

You're so nice, thanks! I'm flattered you like my reviews but I personally can't re-read them without cringing. A lot of the earlier ones just sound so ~presumptuous~ and ignorant, and moreover I've changed my mind about many facets of fragrance. But blogging *is* a good idea -- this hobby takes you on little journeys of the mind (if you'll let me be totally cheeseball for a sec) and it would be cool to just talk about it.

My thought on these two:

Definitely two distinct scents. The former is warm, sweet, and soapy. The other is similar with an added sweetness which in my opinion resembles an orange creamsicle. I prefer the original as the supersweet orange creamsicle is too much for me and becomes syrupy. The other remains clean and mysterious and sexy. I do think that No. 5 Eau Premiere is a nicely made scent- I just prefer a little less corn syrup.
I also get a slight chemical smell that...

1st application:

My nose isn't picking much up on this today, and I applied a lot. However, my loved ones can smell me from yards away. So far this is soft, warm, and sweet. At the same time I'm getting sharpness or tartness from the florals. I could appreciate this on someone else, but I don't expect to fall in love with this myself. It seems too dainty and serious to me. Just in case my nose isn't working today, I will try it again sometime. But until then, I feel lukewarm about...

Hello!

Today I'm trying a sample of Champs Elysees and so far it smells great on me. Made in 1904 though I'm guessing it's reformulated, this is the oldest scent I've tried. I was struck right away with its crisp cheery edge. Not what I normally would think of as old fashioned.
(I think many older frags I've tried have gone bad and so really I should few expectations for "oldies." )

But this is good stuff! Clean, fun, polite, bright, sweet, sparkling,...

Hello,

Last afternoon I received a sample of Chanel No. 5 EDP spray from a kind fellow member (along with several other goodies) and am working on my second wrist sniffing.

Surprise! It's so easy to love! For me anyway. I was reading the reviews and do not get some of the discord with this scent. Sharp? No. Grannyish? Never. This is sexy sexy sexy. Onto the wishlist with this potion. Mm mm mm. Much sweeter than I expected. Not at all like I imagined from the reviews....

Don't get me wrong, I'll miss my loved ones too. But this is my frag blog.

Tomorrow I'm flying down south for a week to visit some long lost family. (Dad, stepmom, half silblings, nieces and nephews, and a grandmother!) I'm only bringing one carry on bag to save time, money, and space. SO, I'm leaving my collection behind for a whooole week. It will be the longest I've been without them. Lots of firsts! First time flying, first time meeting these relatives, and first scent...
