I'd do it - if necessary I'll change my name to 'Gideon Soames' and have particularly wilful grey hair

Everybody should go back to school - work isn't nearly so much fun You should do some esoteric historical period, and then you can present it on television on a random 'educational' channel. Marvellous.

    Hello there

Thanks very much - I just desperately cling to not wasting three years of random historical empire studies. It rarely works, obviously

Good evening! How have you been? As you know school started again. It has been a whirlwind. Haven't been able to spend as much time on BN as I would like! I'll take a second or so to post my SOtD then back to work! We've been following my son at the hockey rinks alot. He's 16 and plays elite level hockey. It keeps us busy during the year! I was a hockey player and athlete too most of my life! Typical Canadian... we love our hockey! Hope things have been good for you and your husband! I have been sampling new 'fumes lately.Would love to make some purchases! As for my wife... she loves perfumes and graciously supports my fragrance indulgances!! She's not as into it as I am! I recently read Divatologists blog on Fragrance Application. I've been using her method for over a month... works extremely well. Wish we had more access to product here. I guess the net and Perfumed court will certainly help. Do you have success with any particular online companies? any advice? Have a good one!

Our students start next Tuesday too. We have to start a week earlier. For what it's worth, you write very well! I left a comment on one of your blogs, "Confessions of a Perfume Dork." Loved it! I don't think most of my friends see 'fumes the way I do!. My interest in 'fumes started with my dad. When I was a kid I would watch him shave and apply aftershave. I remember thinking I couldn't wait to grow up so I could shave and and slap on some cologne. When the teenage years hit, I started trying a few colognes. I have always related fragrance with fond memories of family and good times. Very nostalgic! As a barber my grandfather would cut my hair. I still remember the manly smell of talcum powder filling the air! As I got older I remember just wanting to smell good. Sound corny? Wanted to find out some info on new colognes.. clicked on BN, now I'm hooked. I still consider myself a noob.Got lots to learn..enjoying the process. I'm quite sure your blogs hit home with many Basenoters!

Good morning! Gotta love the weekend?! My background is in Kinesiology/Biology...taught mostly Biology and Sciences through the years... last few years I've been working in Resource... students who struggle with learning and reading. As for having patience... well, I guess I have some?! I hope I do any way! I guess it would depend on who you ask? haha.. sometimes I'm sure my family thinks other wise??! 'Nough about me! What do you do? Are you and your husband both from the west coast? What got ya into 'fumes? Thanks for making me feel welcome on this site! Hope you both have a great weekend!

There's a thread on the Female Fragrance board on scents and personality that I began rambling on. I felt like it was becoming too introspective and long, so I cut it and pasted it here.

I noticed somewhere along the line what my favorites definitely aren't. I wear orientals well and am drawn more to exotic, darker scents. I'm really a happy, down-to-earth gal who dreams of adventure.

I think chemistry and id, if you will, determine scent insofar as we have...

I first heard of Chanel No. 5 at age 13, when I began to read YM, Seventeen, and Sassy. I was not born of high circumstance, and my sisters and I went to private schools my parents made sacrifices to send us to. These magazines, while entertaining enough to read, had very little in common with middle- and high-school life as I knew it. Chanel No. 5 was spoken of as the ultimate in preppy, popular, prom-going sophistication, something that they needn't advertise because any teenaged girl who was...

Two of my most highly anticipated niche samples, Borneo 1834 and Aomassai, have recently slapped me in the face and in no uncertain terms told me that no, we can't be friends, and no, we don't even want to hang out.

On the other hand, my very first blind buy, Mitsouko, hooked her arm through mine and said, 'Hey, we've actually got a lot in common! Let's take a walk and chat.' So we did. And here's what I learned.

Three of my five very favorites (Mitsy became a...

Dominatrix in a bottle! Dead sexy. Is it supposed to be sexy? Is it the leather? I've never worn anything I perceived to be in-your-face sexy, but I never would have guessed it smelled like this.

I did, however, sense that I should proceed with caution on this one, so I wore to work a loose-fitting light turquoise colored crewneck sweater and minimalist makeup. But next night on the town with DH, I just may have to rock this one with the form-fitting black dress, knee-high stiletto...

This being the warmest, sunniest day the Great Northwest has seen in a few months, it seemed apropo that I try a nice, springy little floral. That wasn't what was going through my mind this morning, or at all through the day, but now that I'm curled up in my comfy chair and sweats at the computer, it all makes sense! But first things first.

Day 3: Poivre I had absolutely no emotional response to this one when I put it on except to think that it is aptly named. The black pepper thing...
