Basenotes - Red's Lumberyard

Redneck Perfumisto, a.k.a. Red or RP, is a certified woodaholic who was born in Kansas and never quite left. The Lumberyard, located in a small town with one stoplight and memories of a train station, brings together a group of strange characters who share Red's passion for all things fragrant. Sharing as well the internet connection in the lumberyard laboratory, you never know who's going to post something. At least, that's Red's excuse whenever law enforcement stops by for coffee and explanations.

They say that one should never wear perfume to a funeral. Although not wearing a scent does seem like a safe bet, it isn't always the best one. As noted by several of my fellow perfumistas and colognoisseurs, there are funereal occasions - if only a few - when it makes sense to say something with fragrance. I rarely buy blind. So when my wife called from New York and asked if I REALLY wanted Neil Morris for Takashimaya, I hesitated. But then I remembered a few things:

Exclusively at Takashimaya's NYC store.
Chandler Burr gave it 4 stars (excellent)
Nominated for a FIFI in 2009
Somerville Metro Man's review on Basenotes
His statement (here) that "From a reviewer/ perfume aficionado standing Takashimaya is Neil's masterpiece, so far.

At one extreme, giants like Chanel no.5 - brands so big, they're measured not in one celebrity, or multiple celebrities, but multiple celebrities over time.
